THE SUSAN COW FAMILY...
Our Susan cow family came to Frimley in 1969. It was a very dry year and WR Bill Pethybridge , Tees, Alberta let my Dad buy a package of females, a cow with a heifer calf and 4 bred heifers. He let us have a pick and many were good producers, several of them and their descendants ending up in Washington and Montana. The standout was Susan 86Z and to this day we have Susan's in our herd. At the recent CSA Annual meeting auction we obtained a 1907 herd book and it had the imported cow Queen of Sunshine from which the Susan's descended! We didn't know that Queen of Sunshine was bred by King Richard VII of England! She had lots of Scotch breeding but as with most Shorthorns traced to cows with multiple crosses of Favourite including Comet! ( the bull the Thousand Guineas beef brand in Australia is named for) Generations later many different bloodlines have been crossed over the Susan's and they continue to bring in top end calves for us.

We have retained embryos from 14F a number of which we will be implanting 2023.
