DIAMOND SHORTHORNS

In 1986 Jill and Carol Kettlewell purchased Butterfield Minnie 4T from Butterfield Shorthorns in the Rocky Mountain Production Sale. Carol had the Emerald herd which was kept and run with the Diamond herd. Butterfield Minnie 4T was beef bloodlines crossed on dual purpose. She was a deep thick red with white marks heifer bred to J S F Lightfoot’s High 5 that produced Emerald Minnie 10W. This pair established the Emerald “M” family. Minnie 4T was sired by Butterfield Panjandrum sired by Butterfield Krakatoa and out of Golden Drop WDM 2G. Panjandrum was one of the many top offspring by Krakatoa and was sold to be a herd sire at Hugh Eaglesham’s Bright Acres herd. 4T’s dam was Merritview Minnie from Ontario. She was from the Dreymaur Mona family. Butterfield Minnie 4T also had Emerald Minerva 20X by Deer Trail Private Eye. Emerald Minnie 10W and Emerald Minerva 10X produced several bulls and females used successfully at Diamond and in herds across North America. In later years ET calves from Minerva 20X descendants Diamond Minnie Searle 11S and Diamond Minnie Wildflower 11W were born at A & C Farms in England.
